Is religious conversion the answer to caste discrimination? The Kerala High Court's March 2026 judgment on the Knanaya Catholic community shatters the myth that Christianity has no caste. 🔴 The Myth For decades, a powerful narrative has been sold: "Convert to Christianity and escape caste discrimination. There is no caste there. Everyone is equal." ⚖️ The Kerala High Court Verdict (March 2026) A person was excommunicated from the Knanaya Catholic community – simply because he married outside his group. The society declared him "impure." The Court had to step in and remind them that every individual has the fundamental right to marry by choice. 🔍 The Hard Questions · If there is no caste in Christianity, why is there excommunication for marrying outside? · Why are there separate churches, separate burial grounds, and separate social statuses for "converts" based on their ancestral origins? · Does conversion truly liberate, or does it simply exchange one form of hierarchy for another? 📊 Ground Reality Caste-like discrimination exists in Christianity and Islam too – it just wears a different mask. Dalit Christians in India have been demanding reservation for decades because they continue to face social and economic exclusion. ⚖️ Constitutional Reality Dr. B.R. Ambedkar won political rights, reservations, and a path to dignity for Scheduled Castes – within the Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist folds. The Constitution guarantees those benefits. Conversion to Christianity or Islam results in immediate loss of SC status and all associated protections. 💬 Key Takeaways · Conversion does not automatically end caste discrimination – it may only change its form. · Think rationally before making a life‑changing decision based on emotional narratives. · The fight for dignity is within the constitutional framework – not by abandoning it. 📢 What is your opinion? YouTube Description Retired Indian judges have been appearing as expert witnesses in foreign courts, aiding fugitives like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. The Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) demands a new law to ban such practices. 🔴 Key Highlights · Retired Judges Involved · Justice Deepak Verma (SC) – testified for Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, Sanjay Bhandari. · Justice Markandey Katju (SC) – testified for Nirav Modi, claimed India’s judiciary “surrendered” to the executive. · Justice Abhay Thipsay (HC) – testified for Nirav Modi, claimed charges would not hold under Indian law. · Justice Pana Chand Jain (HC, deceased) – testified for Vijay Mallya, argued DRT orders not enforceable abroad. · Damning UK Court Remarks on Justice Katju The Westminster Magistrates Court dismissed his testimony, calling it: → “less than objective and reliable” → “tinged with resentment towards former senior judicial colleagues” → “hallmarks of an outspoken critic with a personal agenda” → “astonishing and questionable” for briefing journalists before testifying. · Justice Verma’s Questionable Opinions → Claimed Nirav Modi faced risk of “custodial torture” in India. → Dismissed India’s sovereign assurances as “diplomatic promises”. → Also testified for Vijay Mallya (bankruptcy) and Sanjay Bhandari. · Justice Thipsay’s Controversial Deposition → Argued that charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy against Nirav Modi would not stand under Indian law. · Justice Pana Chand Jain → Appeared for Vijay Mallya in a London court in 2019, arguing that DRT orders are not enforceable abroad. · ABAP’s Demands → Enact a Judicial Officers (Post‑Retirement Conduct and Accountability) Act. → Automatic forfeiture of all retirement benefits – pension, accommodation, security, and the “Justice” title – for any judge testifying against India’s interests abroad. → Draft bill within 60 days and place it before Parliament. 💬 What’s your take?
